A flavorful pasta dish featuring spicy tomato sauce and chicken.

- 1 pound pasta (penne or linguine)
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken and set aside.
- Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and oregano. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Return the cooked chicken to the sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to combine.
- Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and chicken.
- Stir in fresh basil. Serve immediately topped with Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes.
- You can substitute shrimp or Italian sausage for the chicken.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
