A straightforward recipe for classic shrimp lo mein noodles.

- 8 ounces egg noodles
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup sliced celery
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Toss shrimp with soy sauce and sesame oil.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add carrots and celery. Stir-fry for 3 minutes.
- Add mushrooms and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet. Cook until shrimp is pink and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked noodles, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and ginger.
- Toss everything together until the noodles are coated and heated through, about 2 minutes.
- Stir in green onions before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a dash of chili garlic sauce with the oyster sauce.
- You can substitute chicken or pork for the shrimp.
- Use fresh ginger instead of ground ginger for a stronger flavor.
