Description
A simple and fast recipe for cooking fresh Swiss chard with garlic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bunch Swiss chard
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Wash the Swiss chard thoroughly. Separate the leaves from the thick stems. Chop the stems into 1/2 inch pieces. Roughly chop the leaves.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped stems to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes until slightly tender.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
- Add the chopped Swiss chard leaves to the skillet. Toss to coat with oil and garlic.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the leaves wilt, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Stir in the salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can add a splash of lemon juice at the end for brightness.
- For extra flavor, use butter instead of some of the olive oil.
