Description

A simple and fast recipe for cooking fresh Swiss chard with garlic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the Swiss chard thoroughly. Separate the leaves from the thick stems. Chop the stems into 1/2 inch pieces. Roughly chop the leaves.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped stems to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Add the chopped Swiss chard leaves to the skillet. Toss to coat with oil and garlic.
  6. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the leaves wilt, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in the salt and pepper.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can add a splash of lemon juice at the end for brightness.
  • For extra flavor, use butter instead of some of the olive oil.
