Description

A sweet, spicy, and savory sauce perfect for glazing meats or as a dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mango chunks
  • 2 habanero peppers, seeds removed for less heat
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine mango, habanero peppers, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, ginger, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mango is soft.
  4. Carefully transfer the mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender. Blend until completely smooth.
  5. Return the sauce to the saucepan and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring, until slightly thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool before using.

Notes

  • For a thinner sauce, add a tablespoon of water while blending.
  • If you prefer more heat, leave some seeds in the habanero peppers.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
