  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs.
  7. Top each serving with whipped cream, if using.
  8. Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the top for garnish, if desired.
