A simple recipe for rich peppermint hot chocolate.
Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Whipped cream for topping (optional)
- Crushed peppermint candies for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Combine milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs.
- Top each serving with whipped cream, if using.
- Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the top for garnish, if desired.
Notes
- Use whole milk for a richer flavor.
- Adjust the amount of peppermint extract to your taste preference.
