Description
Simple bars with a festive flavor profile.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and crushed peppermint candies.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 22 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the center is set.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For a cleaner cut, chill the cooled bars in the refrigerator for at least one hour before slicing.
- You can substitute milk chocolate chips for semi-sweet if you prefer a sweeter bar.
