  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and molasses until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in the granulated sugar until fully coated.
  7. Place the sugar-coated balls onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are set. The centers may still look slightly soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
