Description
A quick skillet meal combining ground beef, pasta, and cheese flavors reminiscent of a cheeseburger.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 4 cups beef broth
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the diced tomatoes (with juice) and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the elbow macaroni. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is tender.
- Stir in the milk. Continue to cook, uncovered, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese until melted and smooth.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a tangier flavor, add 2 tablespoons of ketchup or mustard along with the milk.
- Use your favorite cheese blend for substitution.
