- 6 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of ground cloves
Instructions
- Combine apple cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a medium saucepan.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and keep warm. Do not boil.
- In a separate small saucepan, combine heavy cream, butter, and vanilla extract.
- Heat over low heat, stirring until the butter melts completely. Remove from heat.
- To serve, pour the warm cider into mugs. Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of the caramel mixture over the top of each serving.
Notes
- For an extra treat, top with whipped cream before adding the caramel drizzle.
- You can make the caramel sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat gently before serving.
