- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and 2 cups of sugar. Beat in the 4 eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup of sugar until smooth. Beat in the remaining egg and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cheesecake mixture into the brownie batter.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment overhang. Cut into squares.
Notes
- For cleaner cuts, chill the cooled brownies for at least 2 hours before slicing.
- Do not overmix the brownie batter once the flour is added.
