Description
Simple cupcakes decorated to look like Christmas wreaths for holiday celebrations.

- 1 box white cake mix plus ingredients listed on box
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Green food coloring
- Red candy pearls or small red candies for berries
- Pretzel twists for wreath base (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare and bake the white cake mix according to package directions for cupcakes. Let them cool completely.
- To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and milk. Beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
- Divide the frosting into two bowls. Keep one bowl white. Add green food coloring to the second bowl until you achieve a desired wreath color.
- Fit a piping bag with a leaf tip (like Wilton 352). Fill the bag with the green frosting.
- Pipe small leaves onto the top of each cooled cupcake, working in a circular motion to form a wreath shape.
- If using pretzels, break them into small pieces and arrange them around the edge of the green frosting to resemble a twig base before piping leaves, or skip this step.
- Place red candy pearls randomly onto the green frosting to look like berries.
- If you prefer, you can pipe a small white dot in the center of the wreath to look like a bow knot.
Notes
- Make sure the cupcakes are completely cool before frosting, or the frosting will melt.
- For a stronger green color, use gel food coloring instead of liquid.
- You can substitute the green frosting with cream cheese frosting dyed green.
