Ingredients

- 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 apple, cored and sliced
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 star anise
- 1 cup cranberry juice
Instructions
- Combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and maple syrup in a large pitcher.
- Add the sliced orange, sliced apple, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise to the pitcher.
- Stir the mixture gently.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, stir in the cranberry juice.
- Serve the sangria over ice, ensuring each glass gets some fruit and spices.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the wine and brandy with sparkling cider or grape juice.
- You can warm this sangria gently on the stovetop (do not boil) for a mulled wine variation.
