Description

A warm and spiced sangria recipe perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cup cranberry juice

Instructions

  1. Combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and maple syrup in a large pitcher.
  2. Add the sliced orange, sliced apple, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise to the pitcher.
  3. Stir the mixture gently.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Before serving, stir in the cranberry juice.
  6. Serve the sangria over ice, ensuring each glass gets some fruit and spices.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the wine and brandy with sparkling cider or grape juice.
  • You can warm this sangria gently on the stovetop (do not boil) for a mulled wine variation.
