Description
A simple, comforting beef and noodles dish ready in 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces egg noodles
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, 1 cup water, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the egg noodles to the skillet. Cover and cook according to package directions, usually about 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water until smooth.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry into the beef and noodle mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For richer flavor, substitute beef broth for the water.
- You can add frozen peas or carrots during the last 5 minutes of cooking the noodles.
