Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, 1 cup water, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the egg noodles to the skillet. Cover and cook according to package directions, usually about 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water until smooth.
  6. Stir the cornstarch slurry into the beef and noodle mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For richer flavor, substitute beef broth for the water.
  • You can add frozen peas or carrots during the last 5 minutes of cooking the noodles.
