Description
A recipe for making basic chocolate granola at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds or pecans)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (added after baking)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped nuts, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix well.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
- Spread the mixture in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the granola is lightly toasted.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Once cool, stir in the chocolate chips. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- For crunchier clusters, press the granola down gently after the first 15 minutes of baking and do not stir again until fully cooled.
- You can substitute honey for maple syrup if desired.
