Ingredients

  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let it brown.
  4. Stir in the turmeric, salt, and pepper. Cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat with the spices.
  6. Pour in the water or broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  7. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
