A quick and flavorful rice dish seasoned with garlic and turmeric.
Ingredients

- 1 cup white rice
- 2 cups water or broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let it brown.
- Stir in the turmeric, salt, and pepper. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat with the spices.
- Pour in the water or broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Use chicken or vegetable broth instead of water for deeper flavor.
- Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice after fluffing for brightness.
