  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 package pre-made pie crusts (for double crust pie)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, ginger, and white pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Mix the beef broth and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, until the filling thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Place one pie crust into a pie plate. Spoon the cooled beef filling into the crust.
  6. Cover the filling with the second pie crust. Crimp the edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  7. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg wash.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is hot.
  9. Let the pie cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can brush the bottom crust lightly with oil before adding the filling.
  • You can substitute ground pork or a mix of beef and pork for the filling.
