Description

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the sauce mixture and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet, reserving any excess marinade. Cook until the chicken is browned on all sides and nearly cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Stir the cornstarch slurry and pour it into the simmering sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
  8. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and coated in the thick sauce.
  9. Serve immediately.
