Description
A recipe for making crispy shrimp tostadas.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 corn tortillas
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup crumbled cotija cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, and salt.
- Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry tortillas one at a time for 1-2 minutes per side until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the tostadas: Place a crispy tortilla on a plate. Top with shredded lettuce, cooked shrimp, cotija cheese, and cilantro.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges.
Notes
- You can bake the tortillas instead of frying for a lower fat option. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use pre-cooked shrimp if you want to reduce the cooking time.
