Description

A fast recipe for beef and mixed vegetables cooked quickly in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1/2 cup snow peas
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat sesame oil and vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper. Stir fry for 3 minutes until slightly tender.
  6. Add snow peas and stir fry for 1 minute more.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, oyster sauce, and brown sugar. Pour the sauce mixture over the vegetables.
  8. Bring the sauce to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
  9. Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Toss everything together until the beef is coated and heated through.
