Description

A simple method for making small potatoes crispy in an air fryer after boiling and smashing them.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb small potatoes (like Yukon Gold or red potatoes)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place potatoes in a pot and cover with cold, salted water.
  2. Bring water to a boil and cook potatoes until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes well and let them cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Place the cooled potatoes on a baking sheet or cutting board. Gently press each potato with the bottom of a glass or a fork until it is flattened but still holds together.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  7. Brush or drizzle the oil mixture evenly over the smashed potatoes.
  8. Carefully transfer the potatoes to the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.
  9. Air fry for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
  10. Serve immediately.
