Description
A simple method for making small potatoes crispy in an air fryer after boiling and smashing them.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lb small potatoes (like Yukon Gold or red potatoes)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Place potatoes in a pot and cover with cold, salted water.
- Bring water to a boil and cook potatoes until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes well and let them cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the cooled potatoes on a baking sheet or cutting board. Gently press each potato with the bottom of a glass or a fork until it is flattened but still holds together.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Brush or drizzle the oil mixture evenly over the smashed potatoes.
- Carefully transfer the potatoes to the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese during the last 3 minutes of cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for best crisping results.
