- 1 teaspoon baking soda

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs

- 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the rolled oats until evenly distributed.
- Press half of the oat mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- In a small saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the oat layer in the pan.
- Crumble the remaining oat mixture evenly over the caramel layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For softer bars, bake for a shorter time. For chewier bars, bake longer.
- Ensure the caramel mixture is smooth before pouring to avoid lumps.
