Description
A quick recipe for a flavorful turkey smash burger featuring BBQ sauce and ranch seasoning.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon dry ranch seasoning mix
- Lettuce leaves for serving
- Tomato slices for serving
Instructions
- Divide the ground turkey into 4 equal portions. Gently form each portion into a loose ball; do not overwork the meat.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Place one turkey ball on the hot surface. Immediately press down firmly with a sturdy spatula until the patty is thin (smashed).
- Sprinkle the top of the smashed patty with half of the salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2 minutes until the edges are browned.
- Flip the patty. Sprinkle the cooked side with a pinch of ranch seasoning. Cook for 1 minute.
- Place one slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty. Cook for 1 more minute until the cheese melts.
- Remove the patty from the skillet. Repeat with the remaining turkey portions.
- Lightly toast the hamburger buns if desired.
- Spread BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cheesy turkey patty on top.
- Top the patty with lettuce and tomato. Place the top bun on the burger.
Notes
- For extra flavor, mix the ranch seasoning directly into the ground turkey before forming the balls.
- Use a heavy, flat spatula for the best smash effect.
